I mustache you a question

March 20, 2025

I'm not a fashionista. I'm not trendy. And I certainly can't keep up with what is "in style" and what's out. Most trends come and go so quickly, most of us can't keep up anyway. And when we try to be trendy, there's a lot of regret later when looking back on pictures. Take large stiff bangs for instance. Or the mullet.

Or both.

Some things should stay buried in the past. But it seems that the regrets of parents will spur on the next generation to bring things back to life. And here we are.

My son used the money I gave him to "get yourself a haircut" to get a mullet. He walks in the house from the garage donning his new 'do with a big smile on his face.

"What happened?! I didn't give you money for that."

"Actually the beard was free and I didn't spend all the money you gave me."

"Well, I guess you don't look that bad."

His dad told him to not let my compliments go to his head.

It's true that the modernized mullet isn't as bad as the 80s mullet. But mistakes were made then, and they are being made again. Regret comes back like heartburn.

But as a mom, i still think he’s cute.
