Holy Crap! I’m a terrible blogger.

Dear Lil Foxes, I think about you often. I think of our old friendship and all the fun we used to have. We had our high points and our low points. I’ve shared so many memories with you and so many heartaches. It’s true that I’ve kept a lot from you. And it seems that our friendship has drifted. I’ve gone on with life, and you’ve stayed the same. Same old constant. I know that one of these days, when I finally buckle down and make time for you, you’ll be there for me. We might have to work at rekindling old feelings and it might take time to reestablish consistency in our times together….

Talk About My Weight And I Just Might Wield It In Your General Direction

When people say to pregnant women… “You look miserable.” “You look like you’re going to pop any day!” “Are you sure you’re not carrying twins? Maybe you should have your doctor check again.” …don’t be surprised if someone walks away from that conversation with a black eye. And I guarantee it won’t be the woman in “the delicate condition.” I am in my third trimester. I stillĀ have about two-and-a-half months to go. I am only going to get larger, more swollen, and more miserable. I’d really rather not go out in public. But since I can’t help that, I have to do my best at making myself look presentable, happy, and spry. I may or…

A Walk Around Perkasie

Brothers

It was a glorious day to walk around Perkasie. After a long, cold winter the boys were more than happy to be outside.

Crack N Cheese

I love mac n cheese. Who doesn’t? We’re having dinner with our neighbors this evening and I told them I’d bring Mac N Cheese. Now, I’ve tried a lot of different mac n cheese recipes over the years. I would like to find the absolute best go-to recipe for mac n cheese, so that I don’t have to think twice about it every time I want to make it. I did a little reading up on it… again. And found an article in the New York Times about addictive Mac N Cheese. Evidently, it’s a hot dish. (“Geniene’s a hot dish,” I can hear my husband saying… ahem.) Since everyone else in the house was…

Choosing a School

I’ve been thinking about schooling for my children since well before my Eli was born. Or even conceived. Even before I was married. Okay. Truth be told, I have been thinking about it since I left high school and began thinking about the philosophies behind education and the different types that are available in this day and age. The options for education in America are growing by the year. I hated my high school experience so much, that it turned me off from pursuing higher education. However, I loved kids and always thought I’d love being a teacher. I got into classical education at Good Shepherd School when I lived in Tyler, TX. I loved…

Barcode Oneliner

“A zebra is just a living breathing barcode.”

Annabelle Glory Vittum

My baby sister, Tiffany, gave birth to a beautiful tiny baby girl. Weighing in at 5lbs 12oz, Annabelle was  born 17 days early after induction due to the placenta no longer feeding the her. Tiffany and Jarid were supposed to move into another apartment the next day. They were able to move the following weekend. But could you imagine bringing your baby home to everything being boxed up? The induction was unexpected and therefore they hadn’t been able to adequately prepare. But complain they did not. They both are so enamored by their sweet little girl, I’m sure the world has stood still for them.  Welcome, my dear sweet baby niece. You are loved. Sporting…

heartbreaks and hurts

Taken at nine weeks – alive with a strong heartbeat. Four whole weeks before we found out she had died. In two weeks, I will have reached my due date with a few extra pounds and no baby to show for it.  In the past two years, we have lost two uncles, two grandparents and our BabyGirl. In the past year, we have gone from active in our community and having a steady income to unemployed and withdrawn. I have started working after five years of being home with our children. We endured a winter without heat (other than our trusty little wood stove – thank you, God!). And our hearts have broken over many things. …

Our Days Together

As people have asked us how we are doing, I have found it difficult finding an answer. While it is definitely a challenging time in our lives (who really wants to be unemployed in a poor economy??), we are seeing firsthand the goodness of our Savior. We don’t deserve to receive such blessings from above, yet He enjoys to lavish us with richness of faith, richest of blessings, and peace that passes understanding. This last one, in particular, is what blows me away. The peace that He gives so generously (if we are willing to ask for it, and accept it) goes beyond the realm of understanding. Granted, our understanding is quite limited. But it…

Hearts of Clay

There are so many things I wish I could say. But perhaps it is better that I not. For “a fool has no delight in understanding, but only in expressing his heart.” (Pro 18.2) Ouch! I know God has a plan in all of this. I have known that we cannot depend on man alone, but rather in the works and promises of God. We are hurt. Yes. Our hearts break over many things. But we have promises that are eternal. I sought the Lord and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.  Those who look to him are radiant and their faces shall never be ashamed.  This poor man cried and…
